Mazda MX5 Turbo Rolling Road Tuning & Set-up, ME221 & ME442

We are very pleased to be able to offer rolling road tuning to any MX5 turbo (or supercharged for that matter) owner with a Motorsport Electronics ECU fitted (ME221 or ME442). These engines respond fantastically to boost and when coupled with the ME221 or 442 are a great, economical way to achieve huge performance in an already capable chassis! Regardless of if your Miata is a standard internals TD04 spec (in our opinion this is usually more than enough!) or a fully built GT series turbo monster we will be happy to help you get the most out of your conversion.

NOTE: The price quoted for mapping is based on a straight forward mapping session on a well presented running car with all necessary parts already fitted! Some troubleshooting can of course be expected (and a small amount of spannering). However if there are significant additional requirements please contact us with details prior to purchasing. Troubleshooting, electrical checks and diagnosis of underlying faults will significantly increase the time spent and thus it is advised that the vehicle is presented in good condition, checked over and fully fueled. This will ensure that we only spend time on the important part (tuning!).

Using our 2wd rolling road, equipped with high end data aquisition hardware and software (https://www.dynomitedynamometer.com/) we are able accurately control the load and speed and perform the following:

Steady state and sweep Air to Fuel ratio monitoring

Steady state and sweep ignition timing checks, adjustments and mapping (if applicable) to achieve MBT

Power runs & graphing

Putting a car on a Dyno. In order to safely and responsibly run a vehicle on a dyno correct strapping and wheels chocks must be in place as well as appropriate monitoring equipment. There is at least 30 minutes in just getting a car on a dyno and ready to go - and likewise a similar amount of time in getting the car off. This time will be charged at the specified rate. Excessively low cars will cause significant increases in dyno time if we need to start swapping wheels and jacking suspension up. In some cases may not be possible to run at all if we are unable to achieve clearance to the rollers.

Mapping and Engine Calibration. When we carry out an engine calibration we ensure that the entire map and load points are calibrated properly - not just the power curve (as some other operators may do). This ensures that the car is both properly driveable on the street as well as delivering the desired performance and all important power figures. All of this takes time, therefore expect a minimum of 5 hours including getting the car on and off the dyno and assuming that there are no mechanical issues that require rectification during the session. Note that cold start is not something that can be easily calibrated in a single dyno session - our basemaps are very good for the MX5 due to the number of similar vehicles we have already tuned, however any minor niggles in regards to cold start and warm up may need a visit back to us (or remote tune) to iron out.

Your Vehicles Fuel System. One of the biggest hinderances during a tuning session that we see is a fuel supply system or electrical system that is not up to the job! Please ensure that your ECU, injectors and fuel pump are fully functional and seeing a good, full battery charging voltage prior to attending a dyno session. Troubleshooting such issues severely eats into costly dyno time!

Vehicles are run at the owners risk. No liability will be accepted for failures resulting from lack of basic maintenance or failure modes attributed to components outside our scope.

Getting here: Our facility is based in Shipley, West Yorkshire (BD17 7AP) near Bradford and within easy reach of the M62, M1 and A1 Motorways. We look forward to your visit!
