Our 'Wasted Spark Supplement Pack' is a kit of parts to facilitate the updating of older distributor based engines as well as older MFI systems. This pack can be used when an engine does not have a coil pack, or a crank sensor with trigger pattern required by the aftermarket ECU being used.

The pack consists of:

1 x Ford type Wasted Spark Coilpack

1 x 36-1 Universal Triggerwheel (140mm, 170mm or 190mm diameter available)
1 x Universal crank sensor (2 wire VR type, as Ford Zetec among others, 2 pin mini timer connection)

1 x 8v ignition lead set (optional)

We offer two types of coil pack (see drop down). The 'early' Ford type is intended for use with our 8v ignition leads - these will suit the majority of 8v engines where the spark plugs are on the inlet or exhaust side of the block. The 'late' type coil pack is intended for use on 16v engines with typical modern 16v ignition leads (who's coil pack end is mostly universal).

Note: the trigger wheel and sensor are universal items and as such will require fabrication/machining work to be carried out to successfully mount them on the front pulley/cover/engine block. Typically the sensor should be mounted 90 degrees before engine TDC (cylinder 1) but most aftermarket ECU's including our range of Motorsport Electronics products offer a trigger offset function that will compensate for any sensor position. The trigger wheel diameter should be at least 10mm greater than the pulley diameter that it is to be mounted to (so as to allow the teeth to extend beyond the pulley flange giving the sensor a clear pickup).

All components are 'Ford based' and therefore ensure compatibility with plug and play ford kits (for example our NODIZ and ME221 standalone ECU's with Pnp Zetec Loom). However this is not exhaustive and these parts can easily be fitted to most 4 cylinder engines.
